Like many the chance to get away cruising again post Covid was too good to miss. The aggressive pricing by Marella in the run up to Christmas 2021 made the risk of cruising much more attractive, despite the social media threads indicating you were destined for a quarantine hotel.
We have sailed on the Marella Explorer before and new it was a safe, friendly and fun ship. Here are a few pointers ...
We choose this cruise to escape the Scottish winter and cheer us up in hope of some winter sun in the Canary Islands just after Christmas and New Year
I was apprehensive as we were going with 3 generations . Once onboard and we had familiarised ourselves with the ship it was evident there really was plenty going on and something for everyone .,
We were so impressed with all the staff . ...

We had cruised with Thomsons several times previously and really enjoyed the friendly, personal touch of their Ships. We had tried several other ones over the years and decided to give Marella a go, so booked a weeks cruise on the Explorer.
Initial impressions were very good...very friendly staff, clean ship, great lounges/bars, spacious inside cabin..all good.

First time cruising and we both loved it from day one the party atmosphere when we set off was really good we knew then we were in for a good time as the second day came around the crew were so polite and helpful. I choose explorer cruise by mistake originally as I thought it was adult only, but once getting on board I found it was not a mistake as it was absolutely the best , we didn't try the diners that you had to pay extra for as there was no need to , we ate in all the other diners and if we didn't like the menu 1 night we went to another, the whole of the staff on board was amazing and friendly ...
We chose Tui as we wanted a relaxed cruise with no formals, and it was all inclusive.
We had a whole day to explore Palma, Majorca which is a beautiful city. The ship was in tip top condition, with beautiful restaurants 47 and above this was Gallery 47 which is an Italian restaurant. Wherever we went the service given was excellent, from waiters to chambermaids.

Me and my wife are sailors since appr. 1976. We own a sailboat in the Mediterranean sea . Because my wife don`t share my dream crossing the Atlantic on own keel and I refuse to go on board of one of those terrible looking large cruising ships, we find the Sea Cloud as good compromise for both of us.
Sea Cloud is a legend and has a special character. That`s why we choose it.
On a trans shore ...
The fact that it was a German-speaking cruise and we have very little German did not matter since all crew speak English. Safety announcements are also in English. This was our first-ever cruise and we were truly amazed at the quality of everything.
Staff: The crew are well selected, well trained, friendly, and clearly happy in their jobs.
Food: The main Atlantik restaurant is first class. ...
My wife and I have just returned from our first 7 day Western Mediterranean cruise aboard the Tui Discovery. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found pretty much everything to be complete opposite to some of the highly critical reviews we read before departure which made us a little apprehensive.
All of the staff and crew were friendly and helpful with particular mention to Leah our cabin ...
