The booking was triggered by a trip over Christmas and New Year with the destination Central America. Added to this was the cruise line's "reputation" in the premium segment.
The ship is a very new ship (built in 2023) and therefore the condition of the ship is of course top.

Lima is the worst embarkation experience ever. Our transfer dropped us off a Oceania pickup point filled with hucksters trying to help us with our bags. We were lucky when we got on the Oceania coach to take us to the ship. There were only two of us. The competition with shipping trucks was chaos. You only have to screw up one cruise experience to lose a devoted customer and despite 9 great experiences, the 10th one was bad enough for us to cancel a cruise scheduled for Jan '19 and put Oceania at the bottom of our cruise operator list.

We boarded the Regatta in Lima for a 33 night cruise to Rio de Janeiro.
I was lucky to have had the chance to use the Launderette during the first few days before it was closed for the rest of the cruise due to a GI outbreak. My husband and I joined the Regent Seven Seas Mariner in Lima on 31st January 2016 – a 53 night cruise bound for Miami via Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
