Phenomenal ship, poor management

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Oceania Vista

This ship is exceptional. Beautiful interior design and outstanding artwork. Elevators are a problem, a serious problem. I see this as a management problem, however. They had an outstanding string quartet playing several times a day on a hallway. A heavily trafficked hallway. It was an embarrassment to see these talented musicians, being distracted by all this traffic. The space is available to ...

Great in parts

This was our first Oceania cruise. We were tempted by the new ship and the itinerary. We were certainly not disappointed by the ship nor the itinerary although the itinerary was somewhat spoilt by the weather which affected a couple of stops. The ship is quite beautiful - restful colours everywhere and some very 'interesting' art. Not always to our taste (the painting over our bathroom toilet was ...

Disappointing

We have sailed on many lines but this was our first on Oceania. When we saw this cruise, on their brand new ship, we knew it was time to give them a try. What we liked - beautiful ship, very clean, wonderful bed, good shower, roomy bathroom, comfortable veranda furniture (standard veranda cabin), fabulous cabin stewards (they were really awesome!) What we didn’t like - the food, spotty ...

Once bitten, twice … bitten?

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Zaandam

The reason for this rather cryptic title will become apparent as you read the narrative. We had two reasons for taking this trip from Montreal to Boston. First of all we have always wanted to visit L’Anse aux Meadows, and secondly because we had sailed on the Zaandam around Cape Horn in 2018, and really enjoyed the ambience of a smaller cruise ship, despite a serious problem. Generally speaking ...

Seabourn Quest's "gimme shelter" Canadian Autumn Cruise disappoints

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Seabourn Quest

OVERVIEW I have cruised luxury lines multiple times in the last decade ( sometimes with my husband, sometimes with friends, or alone) and several times since Covid. We are loyal to no line in particular, and prefer to mix and match lines, depending on itinerary and timing. Though we had cruised Seabourn (SB) , and the Quest, prior to the pandemic, this was our first SB post-pandemic cruise. ...

Nice cabins but hugely over-priced excursions

We were looking forward to seeing the fall colours down the coast of New England and indulge ourselves in some luxury. We could not fault the cabin or the service onboard - both were excellent. But much of the food was not really to our taste - a very burnt-tasting lobster bisque and some odd flavour combinations (not sure what they did to make the avocado toast taste nothing like a fresh ...

Quebec and North Eastern USA

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Viking Sea

Viking ships were known to us. We chose the Eastern Seaboard cruise because this is an area we were not familiar with. The standard of onboard living was excellent. The cabin appeared spotlessly clean and the dining to a high standard as we had experienced on previous voyages. Embarkation and disembarkation was smooth and well organised. Viking say that they place emphasis on the ports of call but ...

Won’t be cruising with Oceania again anytime soon

I chose this cruise because of the ports it included specifically Quebec City, Charlottetown, New York, and Bermuda. The rest I didn’t really care one way or another. Both Charlottetown and Bermuda were cancelled - not Oceania’s fault for Bermuda - weather was bad. Substituted Corner Brook,Nfld for Charlottetown- not impressed - never heard a reason. 2 other Canadian ports were cancelled due to ...

Tired ship, mediocre food, boring entertainment

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Zaandam

This was my third Holland America cruise. My two prior experiences were very good. Food in the main dining room in the past was good to excellent. On my past trips there was sufficient entertainment and on board activities. Not so on this cruise. Food in the main dining room was okay to poor. On the gala evening, the lobster in the surf and turf was old and cooked to death. So too was the ...

This was our second cruise with HAL. The first was through the Panama Canal and was memorable. This one was more memorable for the Cons than the Pros: Pros: We like the Neptune suites because they are spacious and there is access to the Neptune Lounge, breakfast in the Pinnacle Restaurant, the complementry laundry, and the Concierge who is very helpful for anything that comes up. The ...
