The cruise actually started in Lewiston, Idaho but Cruise Critic does not have that in the required drop down menu. It was the west bound passage ending in Portland, Oregon (actually Hayden Island, Oregon. (The east bound passage has the same itinerary only in reverse). It traversed eight locks on the way to the mouth of the Columbia River following the route of Lewis and Clark. It was very ...
We wanted to cruise from Portland and see the river scenery. On this we were not disappointed. The scenery was gorgeous and the ship is beautiful. There are plenty of opportunities to grab beverages and snacks throughout the day, but the food in the dining room left a lot to be desired. Often food arrived barely warm and portions were often small - my husband joked that the prime rib was so thin ...
American River Cruise - American Pride – Room 317
Cruise Date July 30 – August 6, 2021 – Portland OR to Clarkston WA
First off, I have done many cruises with several various oceanliners, but this was our first River Cruise. As a TA, I will say I was a bit frustrated with how this company schedules and runs things as it is totally the opposite of any of the other cruiselines I have dealt ...
We had been receiving mailers from American Cruise line for years and chose them for our return to cruising after a hiatus due to Covid.
We were promised the ship would be no more than 80% occupancy due to Covid. This was not the case as several other passengers commented the ship was at 100% of capacity.
Our next problem arose at the Red Lion hotel in Portland. We had been informed ...
We enjoyed enjoyed exploring the Columbia River Gorge. A riverboat is an excellent way to get to see this part of country.
From other passengers that had been on American Cruise Lines I would hear consistently that they had good experiences on some of the companies other trips.
However, anyone booking on this ship should be aware that this a very old and barely maintained boat. The boat is ...
Great comfortable cabin on nearly new ship, but open closet hanging space is limited. Lectures were good and musical entertainment was generally adequate, we came prepared with own DVD's. Shore excursion to Mt St Helens required 90 minute bus ride for 60 minute visit, but DVD on bus about eruption helped. Pendleton excursion definitely not worth it, would have preferred to remain on board. We ...
Before I start, let me say that overall the cruise was OK for my wife and I. For my 87 year old mother who we brought, the cruise was better than OK and she enjoyed it a lot. Having never been on another river cruise, she had no real expectations and so it was a great experience for her. For us, this was the first and probably last US based river cruise. All of our experience is on Viking ...
We chose this cruise to see the Pacific Northwest. It was good, except for the nightmarish first day with no air conditioning and a toilet that did not work! UGH! We were moved (to a lesser room) and after that things were OK. The company offered no compensation for this awful experience. The company is still working things out with meals, excursions, but acceptable. The waiter spilled beer ...
