Took a lovely excursion but meant no time to actually visit Rovinj. This is where the "private yacht style" falls flat. Timing of excursions and ports didn't always make sense, but they really try to sell the expensive excursions as not to be missed. ...

We did a mountain bike tour that we booked through Windstar. It was on the Parenzana rail trail. We took a bus from the port up into the mountains to a small walled city of Groznejana (the guide was very knowledgeable and gave excellent commentary on the bus ride). We did not book a tour here but loved this town. It was Saturday and locals were out enjoying coffee, even wine, first thing in the morning. We watched a group of girls put on a baton show - aged from probably 5 to about 16 or so and lots of the locals were out to watch as well. If you go, be sure to wear good footwear.
