Rolling On The River

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Queen

I have always wanted to cruise on the US rivers, and I also wanted to experience the largest riverboat, as well as steam-powered, so the American Queen was my obvious choice. Eventually, I hope to cover all the US rivers that offer overnight cruises. We flew in to St. Louis, and were lodged at the Hilton at the Ballpark, where we checked in, and completed a Covid test. We toured St. Louis ...

We had sailed previously with Victory Cruise Lines who was bought by American Queen. I will begin by stating that this was a very fun cruise and one of the best that we have taken in a life-time of travel which includes approximately 35 cruises. Saying that, there are many minor issues. I am 73 and Wanda is 72 (which is not an issue), two very fit individuals. Most passengers are in their 70s-80s ...

This was our second AQSC cruise. We chose the "Mark Twain Experience" on the American Queen from St. Louis to Minneapolis with stops in between along the Upper Mississippi. Unfortunately, we received an email the night before our flight that there will be a "slight deviation" in the itinerary due to high water in the upper Mississippi and the boat's inability to pass under those bridges. We had ...

Perfect change of pace

The pace on the river was perfect. The mix of day light and night time cruising was very good. Lots to watch along the shore including a variety of birds. Staff was very friendly and available. Cabins were comfortable and there were lounges and deck chairs if we wanted more space. Boat was new and very clean. Given the newness of the boat I was surprised the beds were sunken toward the ...

Queen of the Mississippi; Northern Mississippi River Cruise

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Heritage (formerly Queen of the Mississippi)

We embarked from a dock very near to the St. Louis Gateway Arch. The walk down to the boat was somewhat steep but assistance was offered and we left our luggage with crew near the roadway. River travel is laid back and easy. We had only one morning of rain so we had a lot of time to watch as the captain and crew navigated the five story Queen through the many locks on the Mississippi as ...
