We loved this overnight stop at Longyearbyen. It is very different to anything else we had experienced. We did not go on any organised tours but contented ourselves with walking into the town both days. However you need to be aware of the safety zone, well signposted and with large posters warning of the dangers of going beyond due to the risk from polar bears! To go beyond the marked zone, you ...

Longyearbyen is an interesting little farthest north town within walking distance from embarkation location. A few restaurants, nice shops, and a museum. ...

This was the most memorable two days of the cruise. We had a day docked in Longyearbyen, where we did a dog cart ride out in the Aventdalen valley not far from town. We also cruised north, into the majestic Magdelenefjord and near the polar ice barrier. The beautiful scenery was evident as we cruised north and south. We would love to go back. ...

There was a camp fire and they offered us coffee and cake. On the way back we stoped at several spots to take pictures. Overall it was a great ...
