Tromso is known as probably one of the best places in the world in which to view the northern lights. It is also home to a very nice planetarium, the interesting Polaria Museum with their adorable seals, and the fun Troll Museum where you will learn all you want to know about trolls. The city also has many shops and restaurants to enjoy and very friendly residents who literally sing and dance with ...
There is plenty to do in Tromso. It is a medium sized city with lots to do and see on your own. We took advantage of the 3 hours of daylight by being out enjoying the bustling little city. There are many quaint shops to visit as well as the Polaria which is an aquarium where they train seals and let you watch. ...
Loved going up the cable car for great views of the city and snowy mountains in the background. Lots of snow at the top of the cable car. In the afternoon, we did a private excursion to experience a wagon ride pulled by a team of Husky dogs. Beautiful scenery and great to get into the countryside to see the regular Norwegian homes & farms. ...
Another tender port! Tromso was terrific. We took the city bus into town to meet our tour. Very easy. 24 tickets were pre-purchased before leaving the US. Booked independently with Brim Explorer. Great cruise up the fjords; Ramfjorden, Rystraumen, and saw the wrecked remains of the Tirpitz. The silent cruise was very comfortable and the commentary was informative. Drinks and snacks were ...
Tromso was great, 5* for the town. Our tour was disorganized and all the ship tours dumped too many people at the cable car at the same time. We had to wait almost an hour and lost a lot of opportunity to enjoy being at the top. No advance information that there would be a shuttle bus for much lower cost than the excursion, and we could have gone to the same places more efficiently. ...
Enjoyable laid-back town with lots of excellent museums and gorgeous views and a nice café at the top of the cable car. Lovely Botanic Gardens very close to cruise terminal on other side of main road (take underpass) go towards university on left. 10 minutes’ walk. Terminal is a short bus ride from town centre – use subway to cross to the other side of the main road if coming from terminal. People ...
Beautiful little city. We decided to sight-see by ourselves rather than go on an organised tour and it saved us a lot of money. We walked from the cruise terminal across the bridge to the Arctic Cathedral, about 15 - 20 minutes walk. There is a small fee to enter the Cathedral but well worth it, beautiful and peaceful inside. The small gift shop sells postcards and stamps - and will post these for ...
