This port is terribly directed... Finding directions to get to the "people mover" was difficult. Then no directions on what to do when you get the the people mover. Then you walk to an area where you finally see an MSC sign and get a bus to go to a port terminal, then wait for a boat that takes you to the ship. Hardly any directions and can start your trip very frustrated. ...

We stayed in Venice prior to the cruise, and we took the train from Venice to Trieste. It was super easy to do. We did a TourGuy tour of Venice, which showed and explained many of the big landmarks in Venice and included a gondola ride. We also attended a Vivaldi concert in Vivaldi church. It was difficult to get to and from Venice from the ship. Prepare to do lots of walking. The tour basically showed you where the sites were but we did not go into any of them. We had the chance to explore Venice before we got on board at Venice. It's a beautiful, decrepit, historic city. We bought a day pass for the public transport (20 Euros) and rode on the front seats of the Vaporettos (the boats that go along the grand canal) to have a good look around.
