We just completed a cruise on the Hudson River on the Star. Having cruised many times before (albeit on different lines), I must tell you that this cruise was not good. One set of passengers that we got to know fairly well even left early because they were so disappointed. The ship needs a complete face lift and mechanical overhaul. Specific issues:

While most of the staff were very friendly and go out of their way to help you, guest services left must to be desired. Unless you purchase upgrades and shore excursions, don't expect must. Preferential service is give to passengers who pay the extra money, the rest of the passengers' needs are only seen if the staff has time. This includes disembarkation times at ports. Food was excellent (nice choice and variety). Service has excellent (stateroom stewards were amazing!). Thoroughly enjoyed how close the ship got to Hubbard Glacier. Also enjoyed the other ports of call. The Naturalist on the cruise was also amazing. Saw dolphins, whales, and sea lions from the ship - cool!
