Food and Drink in Perth (Fremantle)

The dining scene in Fremantle has developed from the area's multicultural roots with a mix of pasta and pizza, Asian, Indian and other cuisines in restaurants dotted around the winding streets.

If it is seafood you fancy, head to the colourful Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour (Mews Road, Fremantle; open daily, 9 am to 10 pm) to sample fresh from the Indian Ocean bounty. Walk the boardwalk to find dozens of dining options here: Char Char Bull, Cicerello's Fremantle and Kailis Fish Market Cafe are three spots that celebrate local seafood.

For a wide choice of coffee stops, try the 'cappuccino strip' of Wray Avenue and South Terrace, but for a sunset view, Bathers Beach House (47 Mews Rd, Fremantle; 08 9335 2911; open daily 11 am to 10 pm) is where you'll want to be.

Hopheads should make a beeline to Little Creatures Brewing (40 Mews Rd, Fremantle; 08 6215 1000; open daily, 10 am to midnight), Fremantle's own brewery positioned right on the water's edge. Try a tasting tray and join one of the four daily brewery tours.

Fremantle is also home to Western Australia's most awarded bakery, Miami Bakehouse. Expect handmade gourmet pies, speciality breads and cake to go with your coffee.
