We had booked a Viking River Cruise in Europe in 2020. This was canceled because of COVID 19. We had a credit from Viking that we had to use and we were not yet ready to fly after Covid. So we booked this cruise out of New York City so that we did not have to fly (we live in PA.)
Everything was clean and comfortable. Thoughtfully designed. Exemplary service! Outstanding food and beverages. ...
We took a river cruise last fall and really enjoyed it. Some friends and us decided to try all 3 of Viking cruise ships. Viking does a first class job of getting you to the boat, making you feel welcome and catering to your every need. All of the crew, no matter what the level were engaging, helpful, at times entertaining. They were always professions yet engaging and friendly. You get a ...
We have taken Viking River cruises in Europe, but this is our first cruise on their Expedition class ships. We loved the attention to detail, good food, service and thoughtful excursions on the river cruises, and this cruise was no exception. We were greeted by our steward as we arrived at the cabin and warmly welcomed. The ship is very comfortable, and the number of passengers is small enough ...
This cruise was an opportunity to see the Great Lakes area. Viking is in our view is the best of the best. Exceptional ship and amazing research done on board. Great dining and all-inclusive pricing. Amazing staff and staff to quest ratio is better than 2 to 1. The ship is the star of the cruise and the best ship we have ever sailed on. Historians on board made for an exceptional cruise and ...
The expedition experience that Viking is selling with this ship is definitely different from the typical ocean cruise experience. There are about two dozen staff members who are assigned to bring the expedition experience to life. The ship shares many of the design elements of the ocean ships. The cabins are nice and feature a floor to ceiling window instead of a balcony. The room darkening shade ...
I cruise a lot on ocean liners, but had never been on a river cruise before. This was the worst trip I've ever been on. Staff completely inattentive, food mediocre and the wait times/lines unacceptable (to me). The cabins were much smaller than indicated. And whatever their idea of entertainment is, it is completely different from my expectations.
Take heed, Stay away from this cruise ...
This was the first repositioning cruise for the Octantis and it was the first cruise ship to traverse the St. Lawrence Seaway is several years (due to Covid restrictions). The ship is a gem, hints of its bigger ocean Viking ships but also many different aspects. Food was as expected from Viking's ocean ships - the World Cafe was outstanding along with the many options - Mamsen's and the Grill. ...
We book and paid for an expedition cruise and received less than a repositioning cruise. We book the cruise over 2 years ago at which time Viking advised that most of the tours were included in our fare. Then 30 days before the cruise, Viking was charging for the tours that we had wanted and others they had simply cancelled. Totally false advertising. Viking either has no clue what expedition ...
We're sorry to learn aspects of your voyage did not meet expectation, mcpats, and are grateful that you've taken the time to share your detailed feedback. While itinerary changes do sometimes...
Recommended by friends as the best trip to the Galapagos. Nary a complaint
from me or my traveling companion - it was really fantastic. Ship was attractive
and comfortable, naturalists were well informed and congenial, food was surprisingly
delicious, and coordination of all our various activies on land and on water was well orchestrated throughout.
I especially enjoyed all the ...
