(1:58 p.m. EDT) – Following last week's U.S. government ban on cruise travel to Cuba, Virgin Voyages has released three new itineraries to replace the line’s previously planned stops in Havana, for its maiden season beginning in April 2020.

Virgin’s offerings now include:

  • Five-night Riviera Maya sailings to Mexico's Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen.
  • Four-night Fire and Sunset Soiree sailings that include a sunset departure from Key West and a midnight departure from Bimini, Bahamas.
  • Seven-night sailings during the 2020 holiday season, all of which fall over Christmas and the New Year, with stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Bimini; and San Juan.

All three new voyages feature a stop in Bimini, Bahamas -- home to The Beach Club, a private club for Virgin Voyages guests. Also, all new itineraries feature a midnight sail-away and multiple late-night sail-aways.

Virgin Voyages said in a statement it will compensate booked cruisers for the changes.

The line's first ship, Scarlet Lady, will be based in Miami during its first year. It will be adults-only (18 and older) and feature a "vitamin sea" concept, which focuses on passenger wellness, relaxation and fun.

Public spaces will include a tattoo studio, outdoor fitness center, record shop and bookable karaoke room, and extensive spa facilities. Cruise fares will cover gratuities, including on alcoholic drinks (most non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary) and spa treatments.
