(1:08 p.m. EDT) -- Carnival Vista will sail a slightly adjusted itinerary on June 15 due to a technical issue hindering the ship's speed. Repairs are already underway, and Carnival Cruise Line has notified passengers on the affected sailing.

In a statement, the line said: "Carnival Vista is experiencing a technical issue affecting the ship’s maximum cruising speed, impacting its seven-day itinerary calling at Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. For its next voyage departing June 15, the ship will operate a modified itinerary calling at Mahogany Bay, Costa Maya and Cozumel.

"While initial work has begun by the ship’s technical team, we will need more time to assess the time frame for the full repair. We will inform our guests if any changes are needed on future sailings."

As a result of the changes, Carnival is issuing passengers on the June 15 sailing $50 onboard credit, per person, and a 25 percent future cruise credit, as outlined by Cruise Critic member Shaded Lady on the Carnival forums. Passengers who do not wish to sail on the modified itinerary also have the option to cancel for a full refund.

Added Shaded Lady: "…I'm COMPLETELY happy with how Carnival has handled this situation … I personally am really excited because the 2 new ports are new to me! Never been to either of them, so it'll be something new for us! Plus we're getting OBC and now my DH is promising to let me use the 25 percent FCC for another cruise. Win, Win, Win!!!"

Member eccentricfang responded: "We are on the cruise right after you and saw this info this morning...I wouldn't have an issue with any of it...been waiting a year for this and would be happy to go almost anywhere...long winter...bring on the sun."

Cruise Critic will update this story if any sailings beyond June 15 are affected.
