(12:45 p.m. GMT) -- Royal Caribbean’s flagship Symphony of the Seas will feature in a brand-new Channel 4 documentary, “The World’s Largest Cruise Ship”, airing in early 2020.
At an event held in Central London this morning to unveil the line’s family-focussed Wave campaign -- the cruise industry's annual start-of-year deal season -- Royal Caribbean revealed that the three-part series has been produced by James Corden’s Fulwell 73 Productions.
The mini-series will offer an “insider’s look” at the colossal 5,518-passenger ship, showcasing “why Royal Caribbean holidays are perfect for families of all ages and stages.”
Royal Caribbean has not yet revealed when the show will air, but has said more details will be made available in the New Year.
The line’s Wave promotion kicks off with a new TV ad -- its first in five years -- called “One Family, One Holiday”, which premieres on Boxing Day. Complementing this, the line is also the headline sponsor of a brand-new ITV show, “The Masked Singer”, which launches on January 4.
Ben Bouldin, Royal Caribbean’s Managing Director UK & Ireland, revealed the three-fold TV campaign is the line’s biggest ever UK Wave spend and demonstrates the line’s commitment to the family market.
“Earlier this year, we embarked on a deep-dive into the existing and potential Royal Caribbean customers in the UK & Ireland. It is this research that has informed the overall strategic direction for the brand in 2020 and beyond -- a laser focus on families.
“Our new approach celebrates the modern multi-generational family in all its wonderful madness. And in doing so, celebrates a holiday that caters to everyone’s needs, however big or small your family is, so compromising can become a thing of the past.”
The line’s Wave season deal will encompass twice-weekly Flash Sales that run alongside its Family Sale, featuring a “Buy One Cruise Fare, Get One 60% Off” deal, plus savings of £125 pp off cabins and kids sail from £99.
Royal Caribbean’s Wave deals are available on selected sailings through March 31, 2020.
