1-10 of 261 Mediterranean Norwegian Gem Mediterranean Cruise Reviews
This was a transatantic from rome to new york. i did this cruise last year on ncl epic and didn't much like it, but i've been on the gem and other gem class ships and you were never in doublt you were on a ship, no matter where you were. it looked like a cruise ship, smelt like a cruise ship everyone knew. the giant floating shopping centers don't appeal to me. i don't want to have to board ...
This was our first trip on Norwegian Gem, but not first on NCL. We booked for the itinerary which originally included Turkey, Israel, Greece, Egypt, Sicily and Italy (Naples and Rome). Sadly, we were unable to visit Israel due to war with Hamas. We were pleased with the substitutions of Crete and Cyprus, having never visited either island before.
Ship and crew: We've been on several ...
We took the cruise because of our interest in the Greek islands and the ports in Turkey Two of my siblings and their spouses were excited for our 10 cruise. However our expectations were not met My overall rating for the cruise is slightly below average. The food was average at best; they had no idea on how to cook their meat entrees. Every meat entree was over cooked, except for the steak we ...
Before I begin my review of this cruise, I want to say that we are Sapphire with NCL. That means that we have spent more than a few days cruising with NCL and have seen many changes over the past few years. We cruised 46-days with NCL in 2023 alone.
Where to begin?
We booked 2 cruises with NCL for November. The Gem from Istanbul to Athens then a Transatlantic on the Breakaway out of Rome ...
We choose this cruise to visit as many places possible in Greece. Having the opportunity to visit, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Turkey were a bonus for us.
The ship , the entertainments, the food, the atmosphere and the staff were amazing !.
We like NCL and we will highly recommend this cruise line to anyone that would like to have options and relax in a good environment.
Everything ...
I have many reasons why I would rate this cruise as poor, see my previous answers for more details. But among the things I experienced were lost, changed, or cancelled reservations, with staff that did not want to fix the problem and/or were unable to access any of the information. Hidden fees, and many activities that I wasn’t sure if I could participate in without being charged. Excursions being ...
It pains me to write this as my husband and I have taken multiple NCL cruises and have always been pleased. While the ports of call were wonderful, almost everything else lacked. The ship is dated, and needs improvement (the toilets are all especially stained). But most importantly, the staff was very inconsistent. We had an excellent room attendant, and did have a few good servers, but overall ...
Embarkation in Istanbul was long with a lot of waiting in line. I wish that had gone faster.
Our Ocean View cabin was the last one down the hall and butted up against an equipment room, yet we were not bothered by noise. It was clean and comfortable and there were no mechanical issues of any kind.
Food quality ranged from just OK to pretty good with the exception of Le Bistro which was ...
This was suppose to be a celebration trip for us but it was anything but that. After turkish air lost my wife luggage we boarded the ship without hers. Dealing with guest services to retrieve the bag after it showed up in instanbul was a joke to say the least. The airline shipped the bag to athens (4 days in), actually the day before we showed up, but sat at the airport as we sailed away. ncl ...
I choose this cruise for the ports and price. The airport transfer from Civitavecchia-Rome to the bus was chaos. Individuals were checked in and then it took an hour before you were led to the bus. All the time airport officials were constantly redirecting where you should go, after the two ladies checked you in for arrival. Once on the boat, we were told we needed an E-Visa for Turkey. This ...
