Norwegian is Cheaping Out
"We chose this cruise because we had 2 - Cruise Next Certificates to use and did not want to lose them like we did with 2 others that Norwegian took from us during the Pandemic, Will NEVER buy those again. We took an Uber to the cruise dock and found that the Joy was not docked at the usual Los Angles Cruise Centre but several miles south at an out of the way spot where there was a big plastic tent set up in the middle of a muddy field...."Read More

Good, the bad and the ugly

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Joy

My husband and I chose this cruise because we wanted to go through the new canal and end up in Miami to visit friends. The ugly, embarkation process was a joke. Many passengers did not get on the ship until late afternoon, total confusion by the staff at the terminal. Many staterooms were not ready until four. On many days staterooms were not cleaned until after two and sometimes later. We ...

We wanted to do the Panama Canal, so we booked this cruise. Shortly after booking it in September 2022 they cancelled stops in Costa Rica and Nicaragua without a reason or refund. Then in December they sent a notice stating the ship would sail from Berth 46 in Los Angeles. A google check showed that the berth had zero facilities which made no sense as it was the middle of winter. Even So Cal has ...

Relaxing and fun--except for embarkation and debarkation!

This was a bucket list cruise to go through the Panama Canal and we were traveling with another couple. We are very casual cruisers so we don't expect gourmet top of the line food (truth--we eat at the buffet a lot) or white glove service and we were very satisfied with both the food (ate at Cagneys twice--excellent and Ocean Blue once--also excellent) and service were great. We ate a few times ...

Before this cruise on the Joy the only experience I had like this were Cunard transatlantic sailings. Once when I was a teen (on the original Queen Mary) and more recently in 2013 on the QM2. I avoided cruises for almost 50 years due to my fear of norovirus. (unheard of in the 1960's) Last February my son in law was offered a CAS cruise at a great price and he needed a travel partner as his ...

Disorganized, Understaffed, not Accommodating

We were beyond excited for this cruise, as I am a teacher in need of a good vacation and it was my partner and best friend’s first cruise. We went February 18-24 with stops in Cabo and Ensenada. I’ll start with the pros. It’s a beautiful ship. There was ONE bartender we really liked because he was so kind and positive. He really helped make our experience bearable. And honestly, I’m really ...

We really enjoyed the cruise on the ship but the stops at Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Ensenada was ok. We were one of the last groups to tender off the ship to Cabo and spent less than an hour shopping at the port. When we got to Puerto Vallarta for a dolphin swim excursion, our driver didn't know the way. Luckily, my husband had his GPS on and was able to reach our destination safely. ...

Worst cruise I've ever been on

There were SO MANY problems on this ship I hardly know where to begin. First, the ship itself has very little outdoor space--there's no traditional lido deck outdoor seating outside the buffet so if you want to eat outside to avoid Covid risk you are just constantly bombarded with 100-decible music. Most of the rest of the space that would traditionally be available to all cruisers was held in ...

A Fantastic Cruise on the Joy

There are so many wonderful things to say about our cruise on the NCL Joy that it is hard to decide where to begin. So I guess we will go in chronological order. Embarkation went quickly and without a hitch. It was efficient and went quickly with no problems. Before we knew it we were on the ship ready to begin our vacation. Muster Drill was easy and quick. There has been a lot of moaning ...

Unfortunately the cruise enjoyment was significantly impeded by the room we were assigned

The cruise had an interesting itinerary and we wanted to traverse the Panama Canal- this was definitely the highlight of the cruise. The tours offered were quite ordinary and in my opinion overpriced. The regular restaurants offered excellent food and very good service. We did enjoy the specialty restaurant The Bistro but did not think the other specialty restaurants available were worth the ...

We wanted to get out of the north cold country so we chose NCL for this 15 day Panama Canal Cruise. Though I had 19 previous cruises on NCL, We 1) Were not called to board until nearly 2:00 PM and there was so much built up tension by those waiting to board that we were almost trampled by the rush. 2) Rooms were not available until after the safety drill. (3:45PM) 3) Luggage was not at ...
