Booked 4 cabins of different categories from inside to mini suite; 3 of family and one of family friends. Ages from 56 (me) to a toddler of 16 months. We were almost unanimous in our opinion(s) of the ship and ports. Overwhelmingly positive.
The ship was clean and obviously well maintained. The crew were almost universally friendly and outgoing... pleasant and helpful but not fawning. Meals in ...
Getting on and off: The best and easiest we've experienced.
Our 5th NCL cruise. 3rd time on Star. 5th time to Alaska.
Cabin: Small but cozy and we spend alot of time there. We love our romantic balcony privacy.
Meals: 6 out of 7 were specialty restaurants. Cruising for us is one long date. Yes, we are married, but we love out "out on the town" time.
Le Bistro: Fabulous as ...
Just returned last Saturday from an Alaskan cruise on the Star. Our party consisted of my husband, mother and father in law and husband's aunt in one cabin and my grandparents in an oceanview.
I was a little apprehensive and didn't know what to expect as the Star gets some pretty inconsistent reviews. Let me tell you, don't listen to any of the bad ones! We had an amazing time and have ...
Last minute, budget, cruise to Alaska. First time on Norwegian. We were warned both online and off not to expect the service or experience we had with Princess or RCI or even Carnival. So, we came with low expectations.
I thought I would post a few thoughts for others who are undecided if Norwegian is worth trying.
It was as good as any other cruise in most ways, better than some in others. ...
Most everything about our cruise went well starting with booking the cruise over the phone with NCL staff. The staff was very helpful and not at all pushy. They even provided some assistance concerning our making flight reservations. All of this is important to me as I do not travel very often.
We arranged for the NCL transport from airport to Seattle but didn't locate anyone from NCL to direct ...
We thoroughly enjoyed the Star. I had been apprehensive about booking on NCL after reading many negative reviews here, but I was completely satisfied. Here are my impressions:
EMBARKATION
We got to the port around noon. There were alot of people already in line, but things moved quickly. We were done and on board the ship in around 30 minute. No complaints here.

So my party consisted of 3 friends in our early 30's who get together annually. I was a little worried after reading the reviews on here about the Star, but I must say I had a great time. A lot of it had to do with the fact that three days before the cruise we got a call to upgrade from a mid-ship mini suite to a penthouse and VIP status. It was more money, but 100% worth it. Awesome balcony, ...
NCL Star Alaska Cruise 9/17/-9/24
We had a wonderful time on our first Alaska cruise despite the rainy weather. This was our 29th cruise (5th on NCL) but our first one to Alaska. It was just my spouse and I - both 47 years old. We flew from Atlanta to Seattle the night before the cruise and stayed at the Marriott Seattle Riverfront right across from the port. We had dinner at Elliott's ...
This was our 14th cruise and the second one on the STAR. We sailed on her inaugural cruise from Miami to the west coast in 2001.
For this cruise we brought along 18 people about a fourth of them had never cruised before, the rest had a least one cruise. I am a firm believer that CC members are obliged to write of their experiences for the benefit of all, so even if your experience was ...
Embarkation was quick, easy and efficient. DH has had a stroke which left him with very poor balance. One look at his cane and staff rushed to his aid, took us quickly through the formalities and straight onto the ship.
The cabin was small but well organised. I was surprised by the size of the window - perfect for watching the waves towering above us. Did I mention 100mph winds and ...
