Why we enjoy small ship cruising and American Cruise Line

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Spirit

My wife and I are retired teachers. We took several cruises on large ships and enjoyed them, but always felt as if we were just another number. We especially did not like the stress of boarding and departing and the large crowds that always seemed to be present when going to or returning from shore excursions. Then we read about small ship cruising. Our first small ship cruise was with American ...

Friendly Crew Isn't Enough

The brochure says "professional staff" but we had college students on their first cruise. Most of the wait staff had never waited tables before! I have been a "training tourist" at a resort and received better service. Food was so bad that I sent back three plates and I have NEVER sent food back to the kitchen before. Oysters Rockefeller were a solid mass encrusted to the shell. Many items were ...

We had beautiful weather for this cruise. RCI has to be quite proud of their staff. All were attentive and so courteous to the guests. The cruise director Mark was a real hoot!! Quite funny and addressed all of the passengers with a great smile and friendly hellos. The food was quite disappointing. The buffet was not much to brag about. You can get just about the same thing at any restaurant ...

Overall, the cruise was a success. There were some dreadful experiences, as well as some exceptional ones. I will highlight the good and the bad. First, the bad: Do not cruise with Royal Caribbean if you are not completely able-bodied. We cruised with my parents, and my father has difficulty standing and walking for long periods of time. Two weeks before departure, I contacted a Royal ...

Just back today from a wonderful cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas. Thought I would put together a quick review before getting back to work and too busy and also while everything is still fresh. First, some background. This was our 17th cruise, 5th on RCL, first on Enchantment (although we were on the Grandeur which is VERY similar). We most generally book an inside cabin as we did this ...

This was our fourth cruise with Royal Caribbean and my eleventh overall. This was also the first seven day cruise since the ship was stretched. Overall we had a great time and the ship was very nice with many new carpets, a lot of new furniture, and very little signs of age. We arrive at 12:30 and got to our room about 1:00-which was ready. Our cabin was an outside way forward on deck four. It ...
