Last minutes decision due to price and embarkation port. Great to live near SF for last minutes cruises, plus the Grand Princess is a truly great ship.
This was an Alaskan cruise and every cruise to Alaska is different due to weather and wild life sightings. This trip the bald eagles in Juneau were the highlight as they circled and feed as we were docking in Juneau.
The transit of Tracy ...
Great overall cruise, our 35th... had some rough seas but nothing to really write home about. Been in worst. The crew were wonderful, the food was much better and the ship was in excellent condition. It’s not new, but very clean.
The port of San Francisco is very good for easy on and off. We drove from Los Angles and parked our car one block away in a secure parking structure at a daily ...
First, the food. The food in the dining room on the first day was completely inedible. Everyone at the table got different things and said the same thing. It remained pretty bad for lunch in the dining room but got really good at dinner every other time we ate there. Tip: if you want medium ask for medium rare. The meat always came out over cooked. Probably from continuing to steam in the ...
Staggered to see any negative review about this trip particularly criticisms of the food or staff because this was most definitely not our experience.
We've cruised before but only with Royal Caribbean (also highly recommended) so were hesitant about going with another provider but decided to take a chance because of the value for money and so glad we did. Food and service were both ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. It turned into a learning experience for us as we will do WAY more research for any future cruises. It will also be our LAST Princess cruise.
Princess sold our cabin as accommodating 4 people....it did not! They had a cot sitting in the room that blocked the balcony. The cot (which our room steward said wasn't even the normal cot) didn't even ...
We took our family of 11 to Alaska for a family vacation. We booked on the Emerald Princess. All interior cabins on the Aloha, 12th deck.. We (two of us) booked balcony cabins the last time we went and due to being in Alaska the temps were too low to spend any time on the balcony. So other than looking outside to see what the weather was like it was wasted money, for us. We spent most all of ...
This was our first cruise and overall we had a great time. We had five nights in Seattle before the cruise and bought City Passes so had a great time exploring Seattle. We stayed at the Westin Hotel which is ideally placed to explore the city and access the various attractions such as the Space Needle, waterfront, etc. The hotel was great and the food there was excellent. Staff were also very ...
We chose Princess for our first cruise because of recommendations from our travel agent and several friends. We we not disappointed! The excursions we chose ahead of time were fun and entertaining. Our favorite was Ketchikan! We would have liked to spend more time there to check out ALL the excursions! Also, Butchart Gardens in Victoria was just lovely and a real treat. We wanted so much more ...
Skagway (train ride) and Glacier Bay were highlights.
Had some problems with Princess and the ship. We were promised a room on an upper deck (14 or 15). They put us on deck 8.
My room key wouldn't work on 5 of the 7 days. Kept taking it back to the front desk to fix it once and for all and all they would do is give me another room key (that also failed).
Buffet dining was substandard ...
Ship wasn’t as fancy as some we have seen online. Food was average. Buffet was disappointing, as they ran out of items quite often and we had to wait or were sent to the other side. Room was clean. Balcony was nice, except railing is directly at eye level. Staff was excellent, polite and helpful though! Entertainment was pretty good. First cruise ever so we were surprised at the long lines, but ...
