Do not cruise with Viking Ocean unless you like bus tours.
"We just completed a Mediterranean sailing on the Viking Sea, one of Viking Ocean’s five ships. This was our first (and last) time sailing with Viking Ocean. We are seasoned cruisers (more than 40 cruises and..."Read More

We wanted to see Algeria and Tunisia, which few ships visit. We have had many good experiences on Viking river cruises so we wanted to try the ocean ship. Good points: beautiful ship, comfortable cabins, good food, good service. Our cabin was larger than standard for the category. I really appreciated the frequency with which veal appeared on the menus. Liked the chance to see new ports. Not ...

We booked .this cruise for the itinerary. Malta, Algeria, Tunisia and Spain. Accomodations were spacious & comfortable. Plentiful storage space in the cabin. Mini bar was refilled on a daily basis. Water pressure in bathrooms just what was need. First class toiletries were provided and replenished daily. Food was delicious, varied and plentiful. buffet usually has the same menu as dining ...

We chose this cruise for the stops it made especially the 2 stops in Africa. The intimate size of the ship and getting to know many of the passengers. We liked the newness of the vessel. Although we were in a bad storm in the Mediterranean we saw little evidence of seasickness, no movement of furniture. We received excellent and frequent updates from the Captain safeguarding weather ...

The itinerary. How often do you get the chance to visit Carthage (Tunisia) or Algiers? The cruise went to the beautiful port of Cagliari, Sardinia and Valetta, Malta. Both were wonderful and offered a glimpse into history and culture not found on typical cruises. But Tunisia and Algiers were special. They helped bridge the gap between the east and the west in a way that was inspiring and ...

It fit our schedule, and started in Rome, important to us, and included Malta and Barcelona at the finish, also something we wanted to spend more time in. The downside, bad weather, common at this time, which prevented us leaving dock in Rome for 8 hours, cutting our shore visit in Malta short, then the bad weather canceled the stop at Valencia and made us at least 8 hours late getting into ...

We flew in to Rome 1.5 days early to see the Trevi Fountain again (my 2nd favorite thing in Rome) and go in to St Peter's, as we could not go in the last time that we were in Rome. When we got to the ship, we were surprised at how large it was but the embarkation process could not have been faster or smoother. After 2 riverboat cruises with Viking, we had fun exploring all of the beautiful ...

When Viking began offering ocean cruise on brand new ships, my wife and I took noice of cruise that we could take in mid-winter. Finding one with beginning and ending ports gave us the ability to plan revisits to Rome and Barcelona plus first visit to Valencia and Malta; excursions in North Africa ports were also a plus. This plus our knowledge that Viking would be a good overall experience from ...

We chose this cruise due to itinerary. Previously we had a great experience on a German Christmas Market cruise. Due to weather, we were unable to go to Valencia and had a delay for disembarking in Barcelona also due to weather.. The cruise personnel handled the situation extremely well. They took care of all the airline changes necessary for a departure delay of one day. Due to weather in ...

Back from “the Secrets of the South Mediterranean” cruise: Rome, Malta, Algeria, Tunisia, Sardinia, Valencia, and Barcelona via Viking Ocean Cruises. "Bookended" Rome and Barcelona with additional non-cruise days; highly recommended. Great time with friends. Booking the cruise; boarding process; and settling into the cabin all excellent. One of the party had a slight mishap and lost her ...

Chose this cruise to see what sea cruising with Viking was like. Had traveled with them on a river cruise, but never on their sea cruises. We were extremely impressed by the ship itself and our cabin location and have signed up for a future cruise with Viking on a sister ship to continue the enjoyment of sailing with them. The ship was pretty new and perfectly designed for what we were looking for ...
