This was our third trip with Viking. We previously were on their river cruises. Which were great, everything was wonderful. As usual, the ship was beautiful and the service was FIRST CLASS, the entertainment was outstanding.
MY WIFE liked the shops on board, Me, not so much, cost me too much.
The evening meals were wonderful, the dining room staff was ...
We were curious about the Viking cruise experience. I admit their advertising spoke to us. And although not a promoted difference - NOT having a bunch of children on board with parents running around after them was a huge bonus!!! Rooms, the ship and excursions were exactly as pictured and advertised. Upgrade costs for excursions were minimal.
Reservations was disappointing. Once you are ...
We have sailed on Viking twice before. Once on a river cruise and one ocean. Both times before were much better than this cruise.
The ship was nearly full, but staffing seemed a little light. The cruise director was missing, not sure why and the assistant director seemed like she was doing the minimum required. Maybe caught off guard? Also, used to the Captain speaking more, and that was not ...
This was our second Viking ocean cruise, two weeks from Civitavecchia to Piraeus via the Adriatic. Viking reps met us right by the luggage carousels at Rome airport but embarkation was slowed down by health screening at the quay. Our departure transfer was at a civilised 9.45 am though still dropped us at Athens airport 1½ hours before our check-in opened.
Along with ships’ modern Nordic ...
This was our second Viking Cruise. Our last was a river cruise in Russia in 2019. We were not sure what to expect due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the heightened controls and procedures that were being implemented at the time of our cruise. Viking made it feel as seamless as possible. The ship was beautiful. It felt very clean and the protocols that were in place were mildly restricting, however ...
We chose this for the Holy land component but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Didn’t find this out till one week before we were to depart. We decided to go anyhow and Viking was very gracious with shipboard credits and future cruise credit. The staff was amazing and attentive. No problems at all! Food was phenomenal! We are vegetarian/pescatarian and the chef always worked with us on our food ...
We wanted to see Spain and Portugal. This Cruise fit the bill. We don’t especially like big ocean cruises, so we liked the smaller ship idea. I can’t really fault the ship, but since we have only been on one other “ocean” cruise, it certainly was far better than the ocean cruise we were on previously. Unfortunately, we have been on three Viking River Cruises and found ourselves comparing our ...
We have been on four Viking River cruises (China, Russia, Passage to Eastern Europe, Windmills and Tulips) and two Viking Ocean Cruises (From the Caribbean to the Amazon and Western Mediterranean Explorer). We make our choices of cruises based on itinerary. We have traveled on brands of ships with 50 and 100 passengers which we enjoyed very much. The only cruise ship bigger than a Viking Ocean was ...
We chose this cruise to celebrate my 70th birthday. We had taken 4 Viking River Cruises previously and enjoyed them all and thought that the Ocean Cruise would also be enjoyable.
We did an extension in Rome before the cruise and an extension in Barcelona after the cruise. We were disappointed in the quality of the hotels in both cities. We had done extensions before and found the quality of ...
We have previously sailed on 4 Viking river cruises and wanted to experience a Viking ocean cruise. We have sailed on other ocean cruise lines 20+ times, so we were looking forward to comparing those with Viking.
Positives for Viking were the ship, cabin size, dining & service. The Viking Sky was a beautiful ship, probably one of the best we've ever sailed on, with spacious cabins (although ...
