Norway is beautiful! HAL is frustrating.
"A few days later, we had a very nice dinner at Pinnacle Grill, where, during booking, I asked the reservation agent three times if the dining credits covered the restaurant.Trip Overall - 7 / 10 Customer Service - 4 / 10 Flight Ease - 0 / 10 Embarkation - 3 / 10 Ship Overall - 8 / 10 Covid Precautions - 5 / 10 Cabin - 7 / 10 Service - 9 / 10 Food - 6 / 10 Entertainment - 4 / 10 Navigator App - 7 / 10 Ports - 8 / 10 Excursions - 8 / 10 Customer Service - 4/10 We had a few issues with customer service, before, during, and after our trip...."Read More

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Holland America Rotterdam

We chose this cruise primarily for the Panama canal. Pre cruise We flew from London Heathrow into Miami the evening before. Holland America booked the transfers from Miami to our Fort Lauderdale hotel, the hotel itself and the transfers to the ship the following day, all of which worked very smoothly, with no significant waiting around for any service. Holland America representatives were on ...

Mid-Class (higher than Carnival/lower than Celebrity) Ship Meets Expectations

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Holland America Rotterdam

Super easy to book and do your homework with their easy Holland America website! We booked based on a new ship and because of the ports and itinerary. They met/exceeded expectations! The docking disembarkation, whether walk-off or tender, was flawless! Its not set up to attract a family with young kids (no slides or bumper cars, etc.), and that's good if you need a break from that. I'd say ...

A wonderful 9 days onboard Rotterdam!

My family of four including 2 kids, age 11 and 7, sailed on Rotterdam for 9 days in February 2024 and had a wonderful time! This is our 3rd HAL cruise and they continue to impress. The crew on board Rotterdam is fantastic! I'm so impressed with how hard they work and their ability to remember all of our names by the end of the 1st day of the cruise. HAL still does housekeeping twice a day which I ...

Nice time on the Rotterdam

We had a very nice 9 day Southern Caribbean cruise that visited Aruba and Curaçao. We missed our stop on Half Moon Cay due to the weather. We booked Club Orange and a Retreat Cabana in advance, both enhanced our experience greatly as the ship sailed full. We tried to dine in all of the specialty restaurants except the Pinnacle Grill which we’ve dined in many times on other ships. We really ...

Twelve day February 2024 cruise on HAL Rotterdam

Easiest embarking ever. We were on board by 11:30 am sitting at the Lido having lunch. Disembark was super quick and easy thanks to the face scanning technology at the Ft Lauderdale cruise port. This was our 7th cruise on an HAL ship, out of 57 total cruises ( other lines mostly Celebrity, RCL, Oceania). Food varied from being poor to fair in the Lido, Deck 9, to very good in the Main ...

I am an avid cruiser. I cruised Holland in 2007. After this sailing, I felt that it was for an older crowd and I wanted to go on cruises that were for families. Since then, I sailed with Norwegian, Princess Royal and Carnival. The crew on the Rotterdam were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good.(we enjoyed the lido, dive in and the New York deli) The music clubs were ...

Embarkation: We chose to leave our car at “Park and Go” and it was a great decision. Quick and easy transit to the ship and a very short line and short wait to get on board. Ship’s Overall Appearance: No complaints, but not quite as “elegant” as the HAL ships of 25 years ago. Not a lot of “glitz” which to us was a good thing. Adult oriented with no water slides or kids parks. Our ...

Disappointed

This is my 12th cruise and was excited to cruise Holland America as we had heard and read positive things. Ship: Average decor. The ship interior is very dark except in the crows nest. Cabin was nice with plenty of storage. Cabin stewards were excellent. I don't know much about stabilization, but this ship had a lot of movement. At night it felt like someone was jumping on the bed ...

We have done 61 cruises including this back to back on the Rotterdam. We have sailed on various cruise lines, it has been 10 years since we sailed on HAL. The Rotterdam is larger than what we like but booked a suite to enjoy the small Club Orange dining room. And the extras. Our good experiences: Embarkment total chaos but we were on board at 11:30a.m. The Lido was fine for lunch on ...
