Radiance of the Seas - First time on this older boat, and it shows

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Radiance of the Seas

My first time on a cruise. Booked in April, 2023. Two weeks before we are about to start our one-week land tour, RC had to cancel the 9-1 sail due to "propulsion issues". Then one week before we start our land tour, RC cancelled the 9-8 sail due to the same "propulsion issue". We fly out on 9-9 for the land tour, not knowing AT ALL if there is a 9-15 sail. I think we were notified on 9-13 or 9-14 ...

Chose this cruise to see more of Alaska since covid postponed it so long and it was on my bucket list.We had 3 generations on this cruise and we all fell in love with Alaska and all would move there if it could be for 4-6 months!!Royal caribbean is def price cutting more with each cruise and unfortunately cruising no longer feels like what it used to and that is so sad.The long times in port and ...

First time back post covid!

This was our first cruise in over four years, post covid, of course and yes, things have changed. Because we live a few hours drive from Vancouver, this was an obvious port choice for us because it meant we didn't have to fly anywhere. We heard lots of horror stories on board of people whose flights had been cancelled/delayed, luggage lost, etc. and we were happy to have escaped that. We ...

Radiance Lacks a Bit of Luster

My son and I did a back-to-back to Seward Alaska and back on May 19th and May 26th respectively on Radiance of the Seas. So in the course of fourteen days, I got to know the ship fairly well. As always, there are things that were wonderful, and things that were .. less than wonderful. But in the end, another fabulous two cruises on Royal. First, let me expand on how amazing Alaska is. My son ...

Nice Trip Up The Coast to Vancouver

I was last aboard Radiance in 2017 for a seven night cruise from Seward to Vancouver. She is aging well and remains a typical, classic cruise ship reminiscent of days gone by in comparison with the newer mega ships with dozens (or so it seems) of water slides which threatens to turn a cruise ship into a floating water-themed amusement park with a few other venues thrown in for good measure. For ...

Great to be cruising again

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Radiance of the Seas

This was our careful return to cruising after a 3-year pandemic hiatus. While both fully vaccinated, we were determined to exercise prudence and avoid crowds. We used Westjet credits from cancelled flights and traveled from Toronto to Vancouver, with pre-cruise stay at the Exchange hotel, 3 blocks from the terminal. We were very satisfied with this property. Dinner was at the Cactus Club Café ...

Great Pacific Coastal 5 Day Cruise

We chose this cruise due to the departure port (Vancouver) for a quick getaway. Vancouver to LA (stops in Astoria, Santa Barbara, San Diego). Weather in Vancouver was perfect for sail-away, and it's always great fun to leave under the Lion's Gate Bridge. The seas were like glass the entire cruise. The ship seemed in great shape, and the crew was by far the friendliest of any large cruise ...

Very poor food and overpriced Internet!

We thought it was a simple and easy getaway from Vancouver. Down the coast to Santa Barbara, CA then to San Diego and home from LA. The Food was so poor in quality, temperature, and presentation. From overcooked salmon, and cooled escargot to rotten lettuce, tomato and cucumbers. Just to name a few things. The app system went down three things. Internet is overpriced at $28 CDN a day. All the ...

Terrible cruise with Spring Breakers and Shame on RCCL for not handling ADA issues well.

I chose this itinerary because I was on a B2B2B. I boarded the Radiance on 9/23 for the 11 night Hawaii and stayed on 10/4 for the 2nd Hawaiian cruise and decided to stay on for this 10/15 Pacific Coast cruise. The first two cruises were unremarkable while this last leg was remarkably bad. It coincided with spring break and there were too many unsupervised, unruly kids. I had remained in ...

We tried this cruise to see if we could enjoy the longer length and master the art of sea days. We failed. There were two couples in our 60s. We don't attend the dance parties, but enjoy the theatre productions and trivia sessions. Day One- Embarkation- Vancouver and RCCL handled it brilliantly. We had a rental car and dropped the spouses off early before returning the rental at the airport. It ...
