Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Brilliance of the Seas

We have sailed previously with Royal Caribbean and really enjoyed the layout of this particular ship. The Promenade deck was always interesting and they had a cool parade the first night. The VERY best thing was the magician/comedian. Best show I've seen on a cruise ship. The ice show and Temptations review were also very entertaining. Unless you eat a lot of red meat the food was sub par. Our ...

THE SHIP: The Brilliance is the second of RCIs mid-size Radiance class ships. At about 90,000 tons and 2,100 passengers, it is large enough to offer a good variety of dining, entertainment, and activity options, and yet small enough to be easy to navigate and not feel overwhelmed.Although she is about 11 years old and was headed for a dry dock refurbishment in Portugal (the reason for our unusual ...

Smooth Sailing From Start to Finish

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Brilliance of the Seas

This was our eighth cruise, the fourth time with RCI. We had a very relaxed journey from start to finish. We are from Sullivan County (NY). Due to the late departure of the Brilliance and the fact that we had vacationed in Puerto Rico previously, we over nighted at the airport (EWR). We stayed in the Newark Airport Hampton Inn. We had a 9:30 Jet Blue flight and found not having to drive (a two ...

Brilliance didn't shine for us

Before I start on the long list of the bad stuff that happened to us, let me first list the good stuff. 1) Almost every employee on the ship is helpful, friendly and hardworking. 2) Although I had read that the Brilliance is showing its age, we saw no wrinkles in the public areas.(note that I said "public areas" not cabins...because that's a totally different story) 3) Lots of activities for ...

Really, a trip of a lifetime

My wife and I have floated with Royal before. This great deal caught our eye, mainly because of that. But when we realized we could piece this trip together comfortably, we and 2 other friends went for it and were we glad we did! Here's our thoughts and comments on the basic biggies most want to know about.1) Service: We had no problems whatsoever with any workers in any areas of the ship. No, we ...

Being semi retired being flexiable, watching for cruise bargins between contracts has become a fun way to get away and pick away at our list of places we would like to visit list. We mix it up a bit, cruise, fly and stay, and lucky enough to go with a sense of adventure and can honestly say we have never been dissapointed. Maybe a bump in the road once in awhile, but it takes something pretty ...

Great Itinerary

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Brilliance of the Seas

This was our second cruise to the Southern Caribbean and we really enjoyed this itinerary. Port - San Juan, Puerto Rico. This was our second cruise out of this port and we got on the boat quickly with no problems. We did not venture out into San Juan. St. Thomas - we visited with friends here, but have been here before. Megan's Bay is always a good choice on this island. If you enjoy ...

Nice time on the Brillance

This is our 10th cruise, most of them on RCCL and we have always enjoyed our trips. This was no exception, although it is probably past time for the Brilliance to see dry dock (which is where she is going shortly). We had a JS on deck 10 and that will be the last time we book any cabin below (or above) the windjammer (or any other venue) I know better, but it was the last aft cabin available, ...

Terrific Cruise!

This was our 9th cruise with 5 different cruise lines (Carnival, Celebrity, NCL and Holland America). We had been on the Radiance of the Seas and loved it so we tried the Brilliance to visit a couple of different islands (Tortola and Guadeloupe). The embarkation in San Juan was fast and efficient (unlike the disembarkation -- took 2 hours to get through the terminal and customs for some reason ...

My husband and I have sailed on Norwegian, Holland, Princess and (primarily)Carnival; this was our first experience with Royal Caribbean. We always end up having a wonderful time on our vacations, no matter what mishaps occur along the way -- we always try to go with the flow. This vacation was no different; we had a great time. However, to be subjective in this review, I will present the things ...
