Really enjoyed the cruise. Being out and about on the ship, feeling the ship as it rocked and rolled with the seas, dining in the various facilities, seeing the Alaskan sights and sounds.
All in all - it was a great re-start for the cruising.
❖Boarding was extremely quick and efficient. First station reviewed the passports, vaccinations, & test results, then security scan, then Face scan ...
First a little background. We have cruised many times and sail with various mainstream cruise lines, although Holland America has come to be our favorite. We were really missing being at sea and were excited when we heard that Holland America would resume sailing in Alaska. Of course, we were also nervous about mask and test requirements and just in general nervous about getting out there ...
We originally chose this trip because Seth Wayne was promoting HAL and we thought it would be relaxing and fun after a very stressful year from COVID. We did not have COVID but we had to comply with all the regulations and the fear of contacting it. From the beginning it was stressful. First the cruise agent (Cruisewise) did not get us early dining but anytime dining. When we called her and ...
An Alaskan Cruise sounded like a nice get away, and a restart in the Cruise Industry. The ship had everything we could need onboard. We were welcomed when we arrived and our luggage was in our room promptly. The staff was reliable, and available when needed. The food was good, and we were well attended.
We had a few glitches. We had an excursion and were given the info for where to get on the ...
We live in Seattle and have always wanted to go on an Alaska cruise, but for some reason we hadn't been there yet. The easy part is that we didn't have to fly anyplace!
We found everything about our experience to be wonderful. From ease of embarkation, our room (deck 6, port side, mid-ship). The meal in the Pinnacle Grill was excellent; our lasagna in Canaletto was probably the best we have ...
We chose this cruise so we could burn our future cruise credits from a Baltic Sea cruise that did not sail in April/May 2020. We unfortunately were denied a full refund of our fare. HAL held 50% on a Neptune Suite. When they put the Baltic Sea cruise back in the schedule for 2022, they did not contact us. We had to contact them only to be told the price had increased almost 3x and the would not ...
HAL Nieuw Amsterdam – August 2021 – Alaska Cruise Review
Cabin – V Class
Overview:
This cruise was a seven-day out and back Alaska cruise from Seattle. Because of the temporary suspension of the PVSA (Passenger Vessel Services Act) due to Covid there was no stop in Vancouver, which we appreciated since it meant that the final night on board was not spent in a port with an empty ship but ...
Chose Holland because of it's reputation for Alaska Cruises. Overall, a great cruise. Ship was very nice, food was very good, service was excellent. Entertainment was WEAK. Not sure if this was Holland or Covid. We're use to broadway type musicals, etc. Only think offered was a nightly interpretive dance routine. Honestly, my 12 year old granddaughter's dance recital was as good if not ...
My spouse and I were passengers on the July 24 sailing of the Nieuw Amsterdam from Seattle to Alaska. This was the first cruise with paying passengers for Holland America in 497 days (according to the Captain) and only the third large cruise ship with passengers to sail to Alaska following the pandemic lockdown and the temporary suspension of the cabotage law. All in all, this was a wonderful ...
This was the first HAL cruise since the start of the pandemic and everyone onboard was super excited to be there. As can be expected after a 16 month pause in operations, there were a few minor glitches but overall it was a fantastic cruise.
This was our first time on HAL and we chose a Neptune Suite. It was a beautiful and functional stateroom with plenty of room to relax and a big verandah ...
