Cruise was taken with a cousin to test if we could travel together after not having traveled together for 34 years. She had gotten a Viking brochure and realized I was the only one she knew who could afford it. Unfortunately, due to other plans I wasn’t available at the time but later approached her about this Uniworld cruise which had no single supplement plus was on sale. After looking at the ...
After having experienced the middle deck room in Uniworld’s Venice Cruise, the next year my husband and I were ready to sail the Danube from Passau to Budapest, but on the lower level.
For the most part, I was happy with the room, food and staff. The excursions could have been better described. Most guides but the one in Passau were quite knowledgeable about their subjects.
The ...
I'm going to break my review into some basic areas that really are the things most folks look for on river cruise. The Tours, Food, Accommodations, Ambiance and staff. Let me start with the easiest first...Staff.
Staff: Uniworld certainly knows what it's doing when it comes to hiring the "best of the best" as we found each and every person on board to be kind, engaging, fun, service oriented ...
Took this trip as a Christmas Market trip- Uniworld delivered. However, I would do the Danube River again and make sure we took in more of the historical parts of the cities - we missed out on that - to be fair we booked a Christmas Market trip - so it wasn't a Uniworld thing.
Cities are amazing.
Ship is spectacular. Clean, beautiful, crew was friendly and helpful.
We found we had ...
We have done several ocean cruises but this is the first river cruise, so our comparison point is not with other river cruises.
We had a very enjoyable time overall. The smaller ship (~150) was cozy and let the staff be more flexible in arrangements.
The ship facilities were good overall. The excursions were great. The quietvox system they used was really useful.
For the biking ...
We wanted to experience Eastern Europe, not having been there before, and chose an 8 day cruise between Budapest and Passau. The shore excursions were informative without being great and we sometimes had only brief periods to explore the cities/towns on our own. Our on board experience was mostly good and all the crew were ultra-attentive and always helpful. The restaurant service was impeccable ...
Please note that our family has lived overseas on three different continents, and we traveled a great deal in each area, usually on our own with children. We decided on this small cruise for several reasons: friends joined us, the area interested us, and the definite ease of travel. For the record: I will never, ever, ever take a cruise on a larger ship. Massive amounts of people make my skin ...
Service was top notch, ship is great but food was disappointing.
Buffet style breakfast and lunch every day. When we told the maitre'd that we didnt like that style they brought us menus and did an excellent job of providing us with table service but the food just lacked something. Chef tried very had but we think he was handcuffed by the quality of the food and also by the dietary habits of ...
Wanting to do a European Christmas Market Cruise we chose Uniworld as it was part of the Red Carnation Brand and Hotel 41 In London recommended it to us.
The décor of the ship has had varying comments but we loved it and it felt special not a run of the mill ship. Check in was simple and we found our room. The room was lovely, but small and initially we wondered where we would store our ...
We are experienced ocean cruisers so we tried not to compare river to ocean cruise as we had sailed on the now defunct Peter Deilmann river cruise over 10 years ago and anything would have been better than that experience. Suffice it to say, Uniworld provides a superior experience from the standpoint of service on board. All personnel were committed to providing the best customer service albeit ...
