We are in our 50's and this cruise was our 39th anniversary gift to ourselves. This was our 16th cruise overall but our first transatlantic. Cut to the chase...it was our best cruise ever! We booked our Delta flight on www.ticketstoeurope.com non-stop from JFK to Venice. Upon arrival we caught the blue bus (3 euros) to Piazzale Roma and from there it was a short walk to Hotel Dalla Mora which ...

DW and I are in our 50's. This was our 8th cruise but our first on princess. I booked the cruise and airfare via princess. I also paid extra for the business class upgrade. It was expensive, but well worth it for the 10 1/2 hour flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt and then hour flight to Venice. We opted for a two night stay in Venice prior to the cruise. This was laso booked ...

Emerald Princess 10/03/08 TransAtlantic We did basically the same cruise last year and liked it so much we sailed it again this year. We spent 2 nights pre-cruise at the Hotel Al Ponte Antico on the Grand Canal very close to the Rialto Bridge. We had a Junior Suite overlooking the canal and the bridge. The hotel is not inexpensive (hotels in Venice are pretty pricey in general), but it was ...

A great bargain package

This was our eighth cruise, the first one on Princess. We had a Baja balcony cabin, which we liked a lot. Calm seas and warm temps enabled us to use it more than any previous balcony. We paid $2,000 pp for the 18-day cruise, a bargain. That said, we are likely to resort to cheaper alternatives in the future. For a cruise in January from Fort Lauderdale to Buenos Aires on Carnival we have booked an ...

We had a very enjoyable cruise on Legend of the Seas last year , so this year we joined daughter and family ( 3 children ages 6, 4 & 2.)on this cruise on the Emerald. The views in this report relate to my wife and myself as daughter has already submitted her report. We flew from Manchester on Titan Air , a Princess charter with the 200 people on board all heading for the ship. There was not as ...

Find here a review of our just completed Mediterranean Cruise on the Emerald Princess. It was a 12 day 10 port affair starting in Venice, visiting Piraeus / Athens, Kusadasi / Ephesus, Istanbul, Mykonos, Naples, Civitavecchia/Rome, Livorno/Pisa/Florence, Marseilles, and finishing in Barcelona. Forgive the bad composition and poor English as my hope is simply share tidbits about our experience to ...

Arrived in Venice, transfer was smooth, however embarked on deck 4 - when we've been before there has always been huge welcome on Piazza/Plaza deck.Disappointing. Ship was appealing and as has been previously said did not feel as large as it really is. Pools: Great layout- busy on sea days - some live music but definitely could be more!! I was told there is more in the caribbean by the cruise ...

The Best Ever!

Just back from a wonderful vacation and now trying to deal with jet lag, laundry, and the accumulation of dust while gone. Our family of four (two sons age 14 and 15) flew from Los Angeles to Venice three days in advance of our cruise. We chose to use a private water taxi since we had left Los Angles 26 hours earlier. I did not prearrange for a water taxi. Collecting our luggage was easy and we ...

Great introduction to cruising

I travelled with three friends. All of us are independently-minded and two of us suffer from ill-health and needed to take things slowly. This formed the basis for some of our choices. We travelled to Venice independently, three days early, so we could spend time looking around this wonderful city. We had booked at the Hotel Ala (Best Western), which has a great location and low prices. ...

This was our 11th cruise (many, but not all with Princess)and we feel one of our very best. We chose to stay 3 days in Venice prior to our embarkation, but made our own reservations rather than Princess' pre-package. We arrived to the ship just minutes before the 12 noon embarkation process. This was our first cruise as "Platinum" members, and it paid off. We were in the 1st group called and ...
