Nothing like Christmas in Dresden.

Torgau is a quick evening stop, and not wanting to waste an opportunity. Our cruise director, Tomas, took us on a walk through town.

Very disappointing

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Beyla

When we booked, we were told that they don’t cruise the Elbe after mid-July because the water levels in the Elbe made it impossible for the ships to sail. The day before our departure from home we received an email saying the water was too low, and we would be brought to the Viking Astrild for 2 nights, where we had a lovely view of the river. We were then transported to the Viking Beyla for 3 ...

Too many nights in hotels

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Viking Beyla

I chose this cruise because I really wanted to see Prague. Berlin was also an absolute treat. I was disappointed, however, since we spent more nights in hotels than we did on the ship. The hotel in Berlin was so miserably hot we couldn't sleep, and the hotel wasn't able to fix it. I also didn't like that we were only provided breakfast at the hotels. The hotel in Prague was very nice, but I will ...

Not enough cruising

Compared to our previous Viking river cruise, this one was a disappointment -- primarily because the cruise portion was too short. Cruise director Jamie and the ship personnel were great, as were the cabin and the meals. We enjoyed our day and a half in Berlin, both the included tour and particularly the "A Taste of Berlin" optional. Highlights on the cruise itself were Worlitz, Wittenberg (with ...

Elbe Not That Elegant

We have previously sailed with Viking on the Rhine, Rhone & in Bordeaux (+ 2 ocean cruises) and thought the Elegant Elbe might be good too. The landscapes at the south end were spectacular (especially the Bastei rock formation which soars above the Elbe) but the further north you go, it was cruising in a ditch through farmland. It was interesting to see the slow pace of economic development in ...

We wanted a river cruise for the relaxing and interesting experience. The Viking cruise on the Elbe River did meet our expectations as to interesting ports and a relaxing cruise. However although the quality of the ship, the Cruise director and ship service staff were wonderful, the cruise did not meet our expectations on a couple of issues. The entertainment on ship was not the best. We had ...

Our least favourite Viking river cruise

We are an active, retired couple who have been on 8 Viking cruises over the past decade. We were on Viking Beyla for their Prague and the Elegant Elbe cruise in April 2017. We started in Berlin (2 days), then boarded the Beyla for 6 days to cruise down the Elbe River, and then spent 3 days each with Viking in Prague, Krakow, and Warsaw. On the positive side, the service and food were superb, ...

Disappointing River Cruise

The cruise did not meet our expectations. We did not like the port of entry being over 1 hour out of Paris or the expense to get back into the city. We much prefer the 120 passenger ship. The staff did not hold a candle to the staff we had a month before on our first Viking Cruise on the Elbe or on any of our Uniworld Cruises. The wait staff was adequate but the core Captain etc just didn't ...
