This was our first experience with a Viking River Cruise.
The accommodations were very comfortable in our AA category suite. Virgil, our room steward was amazing and took care of our every need.
The ships crew were friendly and helpful, especially Lisette, the Cruise Director and Michael, the Hotel Director.
The evening talks about the next day's excursions were very helpful and ...
We were visiting the south of France and wanted to experience the history of the Rhone River in France. The staff of the ship was helpful and ensured that our needs were met. Overall a great experience. I would say that the buffet dinner was not as good as expected. Food items were cold and since we ate upstairs off the stern early on some buffet items were out of stock. I think sticking to ...
Our first Viking river cruise was not typical (fortunately) since strikes in France which caused the lock and dam system inoperable on part of our voyage. From our Paris pre-trip we took a fast train to Lyon where we were supposed to board the riverboat. Instead, we were bussed to Avignon, several hours away. We docked in Avignon most of the time, but did manage to get some river experience ...
In the midst of strikes and protests across France the cruise was not able to navigate the entire planned river trip. In spite of the difficulties, the Buri Program Director, Lisette van Loon, was able to ensure that the passengers were still able to enjoy an itinerary that did not the diminish the experience. The staff in the Restaurant and Lounge went out of their way to provide excellent meals ...
The cruise was very good but the flight schedule was terrible.
We are looking for a cruise line that books air flights more thoughtfully.
Recommend that the flight schedule be defined prior to final payment.
Dinning staff was excellent. Chef excellent and a bit amusing as well.
Ship was well run, except for an incident in one of the locks. We were provided with details of the issue, ...
The ship and crew were fabulous. We had a wondeful cruise but it was way too sedentary for us. We like to exercise which there wasn’t any and we love to see entertainment which there was very little, if any. The food was good but really nothing to write home about. If you love excursions though this is what it is all about. We had cooking classes, saw history that was made over 2000 years ago. ...
The Viking cruise is one that I would highly recommend for those that love history, tours, new experiences, relaxing and great company. I would not recommend for those that are very active non readers. Or if you fall into the non reader category travel with friends who like to play cards or games. I absolutely loved the tours and loved meeting all the wonderful people from different countries ...
This was out first river cruise, after several ocean cruises previously (Seabourn, HAL, Celebrity, Cunard). We selected this particular cruise because it synched up with business travel and included Avignon as a port of call.
Talk about hot! 95+ every day and when we embarked, the AC was not working. Once repaired, our cabin remained comfortable. However, whenever the Lounge and Dining room ...
This was our first Viking cruise and first trip to France. We enjoyed our cruise very much and would definitely choose Viking again. From the first moment we pulled up in the taxi in front of the ship, until we were flying home, Viking covered every aspect of transportation, luggage, accommodations. We were always cared for by a Viking representative, whether on a tour, making train connections, ...
This was our 6th river cruise with Viking. So, we have found them to provide excellent cruises. Because I have a particular interest in medieval European history, I chose this tour because it provided an opportunity to see the Abbey at Cluny and the Papal Palace at Avignon. (In addition to being huge, the Abbey exercised nearly as much influence in its time as Rome. The Papal Palace was the home ...
