This was my 4th Viking river cruise (plus 2 sea voyages) and the best of the bunch as far as the overall ship experience. That was mainly due to the excellent services provided by the outstanding Program Director, Margot, Hotel Manager, Wesley, and our cabin steward, Sylvie. I’ve had my favorite people on other Viking cruises but these three, especially in combination, made the trip even more ...
This is our 2nd Viking cruise in Europe. Although we have been on over 15+ ocean cruise ships, the Viking has the best food among all of them in our opinion. Perhaps it's because of its smaller size the the chefs can cater to us with meat and vegetables cooked to perfection and the desserts were also amazing. The breakfasts also had a nice spread and one can order sunny side or easy over eggs ...
Never been on a cruise before and figured it’d be good to start with a river one…and Viking didn’t disappoint! Excellent service from every single staff member (kudos to Nadia who kept my state room in tip top shape twice a day!)! Max was the best director and I truly had a wonderful time going on all the excursions. I felt so relaxed and made a lot of new friends. I love all the excursion ...
The Rhône on the Delling was fantastic. We flew into Marseille, made an easy bus connection to the ship in Avignon, and were underway next morning to Arles. Walking tour in Arles included the old city, Roman arena still in use, and a stop on our own at an open market (best strawberries I've tasted). We toured a family owned olive grove and tasted oil and tapenade. Back to Avignon for an inspired ...
I had never been on a river cruise and Viking was recommended to me. It was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. The room was beautiful and so comfortable - and felt spacious. The team of Viking staff was amazing. Our room steward was so attentive and always ready to fill any need. The staff in the dining room and lounge was friendly, caring and often anticipated what you wanted/needed. ...
This was our second Viking river cruise, from Lyon to Avignon on the Rhone. Our first Viking cruise was several years ago, on the Danube, Budapest to Passau. We met family in Lyon, my sister and our cousin and their spouses. Everyone had a great time. All of the shore excursion tours were excellent - Viking guides are local, pleasant and really know their areas. The food on board was fantastic. I ...
We were 3 couples traveling together. We originally had planned to travel in May 2020 but Covid changed all that - we wound up postponing a second time and finally were able to sail in October. We were issued 125% vouchers which was a very nice gesture from Viking.
We were traveling before and after the cruise on our own so we did not use the transfers from the airports. We arrived at the ...

Food
Three meals a day are served on board. As this is a small boat (less than 200 passengers), there is one seating for the meal. There are no assigned tables, you can eat with whomever you please. We met two other couples early in the cruise and the six of us ate our meals together every day. I noticed that there were many who did this ...
This was a combined 2 cruise itinerary preceded by a cruise on the Seine. The ship was our first experience on a longboat although having been on 5 previous river cruises with Viking. The itinerary was outstanding and seamless. The ship was very comfortable with excellent dining options; food was very good with adequate options.
The shore excursions went smoothly with outstanding local ...
I choose the cruise because I was interested in this area and it was such a bargain. We were lucky with perfect weather and were able to see each scheduled excursion point. Beaujolais country was particularly lovely. The old towns were such a delight to see and I understand why folks want to own a home there. Atmosphere, rolling hills, vineyards - all delightful. The gorge at Ardeche and train ...
