Vision Not as Good as It Used to Be
"The main dining room menu was pretty good in selection and quality. This ship had the poorest selection of appetizers in the remaining temporary Pinnacle lounge and Diamond lounge, with not even serve egg rolls on any of the nights we visited...."Read More

Not a great RCL experience, surprisingly

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Vision of the Seas

We have cruised over 23 times in 43 years, often selecting Royal Caribbean because we had been so pleased with our previous experiences. Well, maybe we are just cruised out but our last cruise on the Vision out of Baltimore was at best, mediocre. The food in the Windjammer was less in selection, too many highly spiced dishes, and often cold or Luke warm. The main dining room just seemed to ...

Another wonderful cruise

First, the port of Baltimore. We had a 12:00 arrival time but the traffic inside the port was so bad we weren't able to park until a half hour or so later even though we arrived about 15 minutes early. So many people coming in an hour or more before their scheduled time clogged things up I think. Once we were able to park, we found the appropriate line for our time and breezed through quickly. ...

Royal Caribbean is Slipping

I am a D+ on RCL, so have really enjoyed them in the past. They now have gone paperless and have an app that you must use. It often takes 2 or 3 tries to get in. Why not perfect the app before launching it? The wifi is now the same way. You often have to try several times to log on. This is the first year that i have had poor wifi reception on a RCL ship. They have very few big shows as in the ...

Great service makes up for dated ship

It's a good thing Royal is planning a new class of small ships as the Vision class is slowly wearing out. In the meantime, the secret weapon of Royal was displayed on this voyage - Exceptional Service - at every venue, every staffer, from Windjammer to MDM to Centrum, to including Guest Services. All of the staff in the Windjammer have been converted from table cleaners to friendly hosts ...

We have been on this ship many times and it was always our favorite Vision class ship. Much has been written about the cutbacks in service and quality and this proved to be the case on this cruise. The first day we decided after visiting the Windjammer buffet that we would take all of our dinners in the main dining room. We have not done this for years, usually alternating between the WJ and ...

Crew was great. Ship not so much!

We planned this cruise due to some of the ports we had not been to. Ports were great but really RC you need to retire this ship. If it takes a smaller ship to get into some of these ports then build a few of these small ships and then don't load them up to the gills with people. This ship was cramped, lines long and old. They didn't even have a soda machine to alleviate the lines at the bars. ...

My husband and I chose this 10 day cruise because of the ports. We had not been to several of them even though we have cruised the Caribbean about 50 times. EMABRKATION: Very fast and efficient. ROOM: You use to have access to your room by 1pm but we were told it would be 2pm----it was 3pm before we had access. RCCL only offers room cleaning once a day - morning or evening - which we ...

Under Staffed

The Caribbean ports were all as expected. We arrived on time each day and the ship was quickly made ready for us to disembark. The ship in general is old and tired. Some carpeting is badly in need of a change, especially by some of the rooms. Some hallways had sewage smell which detracted from the experience. The ship is generally understaffed. Meal service was slow because the staff ...

Very disappointing cruise in so many ways. After 40+ cruises we have some idea of the norm one should expect and this was a huge letdown and should be an embarrassment for Royal Caribbean (RC). We put the blame on RC for the poor experience. It seems that they have cut back on staff and there were often no workers to help with things that were needed. Phone calls for assistance were not ...

My partner and I needed a break from the weather and the 10 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean seemed like a great solution. We drove to Ft. Lauderdale and parked in the port garage. It did not seem worth the savings to use one of the off-site parking places. We had heard of problems at some of them with shuttle waits and other issues. I am a Diamond level RCCL cruiser and my partner was on ...
