We wanted to sail on the Rhine and Danube Rivers. The trip started in Amsterdam, and the tulips were in full bloom. We decided when making reservations to spend two extra days in this wonderful city and area. The Renaissance Marriott hotel was very good.
Once on the Skadi we marveled at the beauty of the ship. The staff was consistently attentive. Food and drink excellent. Some evenings had local entertainment.
Views were excellent along the rivers. The locks carrying the ship up and down were quite interesting.
We loved the local culture and towns on the agenda. Always the tour guides were informative and often funny stories were told about people and places. We could wander freely. Free time was ample.
Our Veranda Suite was definitely the way to go. Spacious and we loved the balcony.
Finally, sadly, we came to Budapest at the end of our travels. We loved this city as much as Amsterdam but for different reasons. Budapest showed all the history of the 20th century, and we found the citizens to be mindful of their often tortured history but proud also. We could have spent more time here also.
One thing is certain, you will enjoy a Viking cruise very much. And now we will be embarking soon in France going from Paris to Normandy. Again the history will be anticipated. This will be our second river cruise, and we anticipate the same standard of excellence. Thank you excellent Viking staff, organization, and itinerary planners.
This choice of cabin is well worth the money. A spacious living room with balcony for views and sitting. Second room had a king bed and plenty of closet space plus a French balcony for more viewing. Lovely big bathroom. You could live in this apartment size cabin. One evening after a great day shopping in a German town where we bought cheese, sausage, and wine, we ate with friends. Our sweet cabin steward brought us all the things we needed for our picnic. She was pleased we were enjoying the cabin so much. Just hated saying goodby to that suite and all the staff.
Just enough activity to give us the flavor of fun Amsterdam. This is a city everyone should see and enjoy. We had time to enjoy leisurely, independent walks. Enjoyed some local restaurants and hotel lounge.View All 311 Canal Tour Reviews
