This cruise had an array of experiences we had read about and wanted to see first hand. From the Svalbard Archipelago with the chance of seeing polar bears, to days and nights when the sun never set, to the stunningly beautiful fjords and ancient stave churches nestled among the mountains, this cruise delivered it all.

The Pacific Princess is our all-time favorite ship. She may be one of the oldest in the line but is lovely and gracious. The entire crew was happy and relaxed which made each passenger feel special and welcomed. We choose our cruises for the itinerary but we would definitely look to see where the Pacific Princess is going and try to book her again. While many cruise lines are minimizing their ships' libraries, it is such a pleasure to have a well-stocked library for those long sea days.

The only downside on this cruise was the description of one of the shore excursions. The hike to hunt for fossils was listed as moderate and should have been called strenuous. We had sturdy hiking boots but many people were trying to hike on loose rocks across streams and patches of snow in street shoes and it could have resulted in some serious falls.

Cabin Review

Oceanview

Cabin OB

This cabin was a great location. It was near the elevators and stairs, just steps away from the main lobby and only one deck below the main dining room. Because of its age, the cabin is beginning to show its age, but our cabin steward kept it sparkling clean and well supplied.

Port Reviews

Geiranger

We stayed on the ship and made the trip up the fjord in stead of going on an excursion. This was definitely one of the highlights of the cruise. The fjord with all the waterfalls was stunningly beautiful.

Alesund

Here we caught the Hop On Hop Off bus and toured the city and went up the mountain to the observatory. What a beautiful city! It is small enough to walk around easily with lots of interesting things to see. There are museums and a beautiful church with a sculpture in the cemetery that is dedicated to the town's citizens who gave their lives in the resistance movement during WW2.
