I like smaller ships. I have been on 5 Azamara cruises. We wanted to try something a little different. The Viking Sea is a new ship and it was an area of Europe where we hadn't been. All that being said the ship was wonderful.

I can say that I will never use Viking Air again that experience was terrible. Our original flights from Chicago to Bergen had a 50 minute layover in Heathrow. Anyone that has been through Heathrow knows its not possible. We brought that to our travel agents attention and Viking Airs several times in March. We were told that the flight from Heathrow to Bergen was a Viking charter and they would wait the plane until we arrived. That still didn't sound right but we went along with it. We then bought upgraded seats on the flight and the four of use were in the same side behind each other. We even went to far as to check for other flights with different connections and Viking Air said they only dealt with British Air and American. We found a flight on KLM through Amsterdam with a much better connection and told them about it but they said no way. Five days before our departure we were looking at My Viking website and it appeared that our flights were being changed. We called our travel agent they knew nothing about it. Then we called Viking Air what a mess we didn't know our flights until a day before we left. This is stress not needed when you pay 20,000.00 for a cruise. These people need to get their act together. I was almost ready to cancel. Viking Air was rude, very unprofessional and down right mean. We ended on the KLM flight through Amsterdam and the four of us were all over the plane. At check-in in Chicago we were at least able to get seats together for the couples in different areas in economy. I have never had this kind of issue on Azamara using their Choice Air.

Upon arrival at Bergen we were taken to the ship and embarkation went smoothly. Once on board we bought the Silver liquor package which was twice a much as Azamara, but it did include a better wine selection at meals.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Veranda

We had a Penthouse Veranda Suite which was a very nice size. The room was clean and well furnished. The wifi in the room worked most of the time. There were some areas or days when the service wasn't too good. Over all much better that anything we had experienced on other ships. The bathroom was a little small. It was well liite and the shower was very nice. The room staff went through our room once in the morning and in the evening. It was alway clean and fresh. They had a coffee maker in the room that was ok and a mini bar which they kept stocked. We used the balcony to take pictures but it was too cold to sit out on it.
