We wanted to see Santiago de Compostela and were not disappointed. We were a little disappointed in the food, however; the service was outstanding. Our cabin shower had mold growing around the perimeter and was not dealt with. Our excursions were excellent, notably Fatima, Lamego, Salamanca, Mateus and Favaios bakery. The scenery along the Douro river was amazing. We were delighted to have a wonderful PD group. Boris, Jens and the guides were very knowledgeable and informative. Eva did an outstanding job in Santiago. The flamenco show could be replaced with something else, perhaps some cultural events. Overall the excursions were great with one exception. The onshore guide at Fatima was less than average. She did little to inform us while on the bus to Fatima and very little when we arrived. The ship overall was good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We will continue to use Viking as our cruise carrier of choice both river and ocean.
