We chose Viking’s Grand European cruise because I wanted to see the Robber Baron's' castles on the Rhine. We did that and so much more. Viking Modi traveled from Budapest to Amsterdam on three rivers and two canals. We passed through 68 locks and under a multitude of bridges. Our onshore excursions took us to castles and palaces, cathedrals and synagogues, marketplaces and cemeteries, cities and towns. Expert tour guides explained art and history. We ate marvelous food and drank excellent wines. We made friends and shared experiences with other mature, educated passengers who wanted to learn about the world and were more interested in education than entertainment. I climbed to the top of a cathedral, made weisswurst in Germany, attended a Mozart and Strauss concert in Vienna, and saw masterpieces in Amsterdam's two world-class museums. Our journey was as busy and as relaxing as we wanted it to be. The crew treated us like royalty every mile of the way. This was our second Viking River Cruise and we are both eager to take another one. I recommend Viking highly to all my friends and relatives. The cabins are small but compact. Every inch of space is utilized efficiently. We thought of upgrading to a bigger space on this tour but decided against it because we spend so little time in our cabins. They have everything we need for bathing, sleeping, dressing and charging our electronics.
