We chose the Viking Sky because of the itinerary. I have always wanted to do the Northeastern seaboard and Canada in the fall. Also it was our 40th wedding anniversary and we splurged on what was described as a "luxury" cruise with an included tour at every port. The tour department on the Sky needs a big overhaul. When we boarded the Sky in New York we immediately went to the tour desk to ask about the included tour in New York. We were soon joined by several couples with the same question. We were told in no uncertain terms that none of us would be allowed on the tour as it was full. We all explained that we had been talking with Viking agents for months and were all assured that we would have a place on the tour. The very vocal young lady told us repeatedly that we would not be included on this tour. Very bad beginning to the cruise. So we didn't get to see New York. Arrived in Boston, where there was supposed to be a shuttle bus from the pier to the town. Hundreds of people waiting in the pier terminal for busses that never came. Another bad day for the tour office. Badly managed. New port, Gaspe, the included tour was a bus ride out to look at a stone cliff for 45 minutes. That was the extent of it.
The rest of the staff was wonderful. The food was average, BIG disappointment. The included wine and beer were free flowing and good. The spa thermal pool, with snow room were great. The entertainment was low key but very good. Our cabin was adequate with very little storage space but a nice closet and bathroom. Loved the glass door on shower. Over all we were very disappointed with our cruise for the amount of money we paid for it.
average balcony sized cabin. The bed and bedding were lovely. Little storage space. Nice bathroom with glass door in shower.
