SHIP:
We are cruising since almost 10 years and take at least 2 cruises per year. So far we have tried Oceania Cruises (Marina-PH2 Suites), HAL (Koningsdam-Vista Suite), MSC (Aurea Suites) and TUI Cruises (Junior and Captain Suites) on several occasions. This has been our first cruise with Celebrity Cruises and we have been very insecure prior starting our vacation due to so many negative reviews here.
We have received a very good offer with all 4 „perks“ included (all inclusive premium drinks package, pre-paid gratuities, unlimited internet access for 2 and a shipboard credit of USD 300,-/cabin) and decided to try Celebrity as we wanted always to discover South East Asia…
On this cruise we have booked a CELEBRITY SUITE (CS 6104) on deck 6. The cabin has offered a great location midst of the ship without any noise disturbances from other cabins (sometimes we could hear the neighbours from the sky suite beside banging the wardrobe shelfs in and out). This cabin type is a real suite, as you have a large separate living room with large dining area, entrance hall and a separate bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom. While the living room is very bright with the large window front going around the entire living room front, the bedroom is complitely dark as laying inside. For us this was perfect, as we are very light sleepers and enjoyed to have a complitely dark bedroom. The dining table has been large enough for up to 4 people and we have regulary enjoyed our breakfast in the suite. The biggest disappointment with the room was however the bathroom. Comparing to the rooms size and layout this seems quite small and old. The height/ entrance in to the bath is quite high and very difficult for ederly people, this becase a real issue… Also there is no socket/ electricity layout in order to connect an electrical device/ toothbrush etc. We had to order an extendable cable which has been provided immediately.
We have visited VICTORIA PEAK with the peak tram by using the Skip the Lane tour and after that the central elevators with visiting the MAN MO TEMPLE. A ride with the old DING DING TRAM is a funny thing, despite they can become very full!
We have booked a scenic water plane flight on the first day which is a life time experience and the secind day a full day cruise to BAI TU LONG BAY with a visit of a floating village, a pearl farm, cave visit and a very tasty lunch on board!
This was one very interesting city with its mixture of modern and traditional life and crazy markets...
We have booked a 2-days/ 1 night private tour and have doscovered the best of the citys highlights. The second day has been even better with the early visit of the risky market with the train driving through and the floating market!
