This journey cruise was a initial family Carnival cruise for my sister-her husband and two young adult granddaughters as well as myself and my adult daughter. The cruise was initially selected because 1-the schedule worked well with the college ladies school breaks and 2- noted that the ship would be undergoing a big renovation- which we decided would make it a pretty much like new ship.
Embarkation day- very confusing and chaotic- upon checking into Manhattan terminal- we inquired of numerous personal where to go for priority check-in(suite guest)- first were sent to one side of terminal than to the other-no one seem to know for sure, we finally were seated in some area with TA'S, after that the boarding started and we got on board- quickly enough.
We did the unthinkable and went to the lido deck for a bite to eat- crowded and congested, when announcement made that cabins were ready we were more than ready to go. I was especially ready to unload my mass of luggage.
as previously reviewed, very pleased with this cabin type.
mass confusion- employees didn't seem to know which line for my party to check in-
took cab to cane garden beach - wonderful- relaxing day-in the sun- really enjoyed this beach- few negatives- area did not have water hose to wash off sand from feet- had little basin with water which people were observed to be sticking their feet into to clean--nasty-nasty--we decided to board van--sandy feet and all-
then we were packed liked sardines- before driver decided to depart- even middle aisle had jump seats that were utilized- i kept my eyes closed during the trip back- as course took us up and down winding hilly roads--
another beach day at area right off from the water transport area--was able to get two chairs and umbrella for $20--which included 5 drinks--relaxing day- young lady came and took food orders- my brother in law had rice and peas which he said were very good--i was getting a little overwhelmed by the sun and strong rum punch
sand at beach was very soft- required caution walking in as you could sink down
another relaxing beach day--i understand that to the left blue loungers and green umbrellas are free- however by the time we got off ship- free section was filled- so of course we were hoodwinked by some young men where we paid $50 for 2 umbrellas and 6 chairs- the umbrellas were very wide and served the purpose and we were close to the water- the young men also informed the young adults that the deal also included free wi-fi and half priced drinks at Margaritaville - well the young ladies quickly found out this was a hoax and paid $20/drink- the old folks- myself- sister & brother-in-law-- decided we would just drink the water we had brought off boat
please make sure you have water shoes- this beach was so rocky in the water- big boulders of rocks and sand uneven- with dips and valleys- i did fall once coming out of the water- we did see some pretty species of fish
