Sail Date: Aug 2021

This was our second Alaskan cruise with NCL. We had sailed on the Joy August of 2019 and it had been a wonder in all directions. We had been booked to sail to Alaska with NCL August 2020 but we all know about that 'lost' period, so when we saw that NCL was to sail this summer to Alaska we jumped to be part of a 'post pandemic' excursion to celebrate a birthday and our 45th anniversary.

The Covid test to get onboard could use some refinement in process, but okay. Thrilled to get on board. Our cabin exactly as expected.

Crew and staff onboard the Encore are exceptional and deserve all kudos they may be given. We were able to try many of the dining options both complimentary and a la carte - my husbands favorite is the French La Bistro and marvelous food and service the night it was jam packed as well as the quieter evening we dined there. Foods marvelous at all venues we tried - Food Republic, Taste, Savor, Manhattan Room, La Bistro, Onda, Ocean Blue, Garden Cafe and Cagney Steakhouse all would repeat if opportunity presented .

Port Reviews

The catamaran trip to Daws Glacier was exceptional. First time we came to Alaska we were unaware of this shore excursion until we saw the catamaran come to hook up to the NCL ship. This time we knew we were going on an Alaska cruise with NCL signing up for this shore excursion option was the first thing we did - before other shore excursions, before dining options, or entertainment. Wanted to be part of the 50 ish number who were able to board. Worth it in every consideration. Totally awesome!!!
