Shame we were delayed

Review for a Europe - Black Sea Cruise on Douro Elegance

Unfortunately our cruise on the River Douro got off to a bad start as a radar fault at Porto airport meant that our TAP Portugal plane was prevented from leaving Gatwick for 24 hours. On our delayed arrival in Porto we were taken by coach to a quay further up river to join Douro Elegance. The ship has defined booking times at the five locks on this river so she had to move. On boarding ship the ...

Good Value Cruise

Review for a Europe - Black Sea Cruise on MSC Splendida

Having read varied reviews we went on MSC with low expectations but hopeful, as my husband understands Italian we may find experience better than others who have reviewed it. In fact the announcements on this trip started in English followed by German, Italian & more! I guess it depends on which nationalities make up the passenger list. Boarding-Very swift. We waited for 15 mins seated and then ...

Excellent Staff, Food, and Itinerary

Review for a Europe - Black Sea Cruise on Emerald Princess

We took a 14 night cruise in June 2015 from Rome to Istanbul. The itinerary included Rome, Naples, several Greek islands, Athens, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. We traveled on the Ruby Princess in 2012, and the Emerald Princess is its sister ship, featuring many of the same amenities and services. We were impressed by the quality and variety of the food, the service of the staff and the ...

Great Excursions, Noisy Ship, and don't take a penknife.

Review for a Europe - Black Sea Cruise on Celebrity Constellation

We loved: the excursions and the quality of the guides that led them; the excellent speakers on topics linked to the region we were visiting; the range of activities and facilities on the ship; the friendly service from the helpful crew. We disliked: the amplified music that generally resounded through the lounges and the wailing songs that screeched around the buffet dining room. Although ...

A Very English Cruise

Review for a Europe - Black Sea Cruise on Queen Victoria

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

Stayed in the Meon Valley Marriott the night before good quality hotel and a good deal including parking for the duration of the cruise and efficient inclusive transfers to terminal. I called this review very English because the vast majority of the passengers were English predominantly in the age range 60 plus. The atmosphere and the ethos of the ship was very English although all prices were in ...

Black Sea Magic Ship not magic

Black Sea cruising is usually offered in a limited time period. Since cruise itinerary is my most important criteria for cruise selection and the Celebrity Constellation filled the bill, I booked myself and several good friends (a total of 6 brave souls). In this writing, I will briefly review the ship, list the ports and include a few details of our pre and post cruise adventures. I have sailed ...

So-so

Let's start with the cabin. We paid for a verandah, but when we got on the ship, our 11th floor room had a small 'Romeo & Juliet' balcony without furniture. There was room for two to stand on it, and there were no dividers from the adjacent rooms (no privacy when on the balcony). We were disappointed and went to get the room changed but were told that since we booked through Expedia, we could not ...

This was my first cruise on Scenic River cruises, and won t be my last.Have already booked another for next May.The ship, food, staff, cabins, etc.all great, would rate 4 to 4 1/2 stars.I m just picky about some details,so not 5 star(very subjective,I know) .The itinerary would not be one for newbies,as not as scenic as others I ve been on.Budapest was great, lots to see, hotel(Marriott)nice and good ...

Lots of good points - but quite a few bad ones too!

Review for a Europe - Black Sea Cruise on MSC Opera

User Avatar

MSC has some pretty bad reviews, and I'm pleased to report that we had a very pleasant time on board Opera. However, it was not all plain sailing, if you'll excuse the pun. So let's start with the bad points and if you feel you can stomach those, I shall move on to the good points. The biggest minus for us was the very poor vegetarian food. Meat and fish eaters are very well catered for, but poor ...

This is the first time I cruised with Oceania. I picked the cruise because the itinerary is one I have wanted to do for a long time. Unfortunately, because of the situation in Ukraine we were unable to go to Sevastapol, Yalta or Odessa. This was not Oceania's fault but they were very sneaky in not informing us until it was too late to cancel. And worse was to come - we lost 3 ports and they didn't ...
