My husband and I chose this cruise because we both had France on our bucket list. We both wanted to see Paris, I wanted to see Versailles, and he wanted to visit the D-Day landing sites.
This was our first river cruise and we fell in love! We spent a lot of time on our verandah watching the beautiful French countryside go by. We enjoyed all our meals, meeting new friends, and being served by an amazing crew.
Although the cabin was small, it had plenty of storage. The queen-size bed was very comfortable. I loved that we had fresh bottled water in our room every day, and a cold bottle of water to take on excursions.
Dining on the Rolf was always a wonderful experience. From the made-to-order omelets, fresh fruit and fresh pastries each morning to the chef's special regional dishes for dinner, we were always impressed.
Everything was well-organized by a well-trained crew and staff. The included excursions were led by knowledgeable guides and were both entertaining and educational. The gardens and home of Claude Monet were exquisite and I loved hearing about the life of the artist. Rouen is a beautiful city with friendly people, and the Joan of Arc memorial was touching. Our trip to the American cemetery at Normandy was a highlight of the trip. Our cruise director had arranged a ceremony at the memorial and then we were given time to stroll among the beautiful graves.
Our time aboard the Rolf was a dream come true. It was our first river cruise, but will not be our last!
